How to mine Spectre

In this guide, I’ll briefly introduce the Spectre blockchain and share step-by-step instructions and tips for those interested in mining it.

About the Spectre blockchain

Spectre is a blockchain project forked from KASPA, with the primary difference being its hashing algorithm. Spectre uses SpectreX, a CPU-only mining algorithm based on HeavyHash. Its roadmap includes privacy support through the GhostFACE protocol. The native token, SPR, is already listed on several exchanges.

Emission schedule

Spectre launched in July 2024.
The emission schedule follows a halving pattern once per year, with smooth monthly reductions.
Maximum supply is 1.16 billion coins.
The initial block reward is 15.00 SPR.
A more detailed schedule is published on the Spectre website at Spectre Network - Tokenomics, Emission, and Mining

Mining Spectre

Spectre uses SpectreX, which layers the AstroBWTv3 hash function on top of HeavyHash.

Spectre Wallet

If you do not have a Spectre wallet, you should obtain one. The easiest way is to create a web wallet at wallet.spectre-network.org
Mobile wallet for Android and iOS is available at Github

Mining hardware

SpectreX is ASIC- and GPU-resistant at this time, and works best for CPU mining.

Here are some mining software options that can be used for Spectre.

Mining software
Miner Source Dev Fee Hardware OS Download
TNN Miner Open source 1.00% to 2.5% NVIDIA, AMD Windows/Linux TNN Miner

Pool URLs
Pool Geo Location Stratum Difficulty Pool URL

To start mining

1. Download and unpack the miner

If Windows suggests that the miners are “potentially unwanted” software, you may need to select the “Allow on device” option in Windows Security settings.

2. Test the connection with the pool

Find the nearest server to your geographic area and ping it. If the ping is under 100 ms, you can consider this server for mining.

$ ping nushypool.com
3. Run the miner

Run the miner. The command line depends on your miner and operating system. For example, to start mining, run:

$ ./tnn-miner --stratum --spectre --daemon-address nushypool.com --port 40015 --wallet [address].[workername]

You can quickly configure your command on our SPR Pool Page and tap the "Start Mining" button.

Good luck!
